BACC attended the Civil Society Dialogue with Her Excellency Ms. Joanna Wronecka, President of the UN Security Council
On August 6th, 2019 Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) members attended the monthly dialogues between the President of the UN Security Council and Civil Society organization at the United Nations Headquarters, organized by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA).
The dialogue featured Her Excellency Joanna Wronecka, Permanent Representative of Poland to the UN, and President of the Security Council for the month of August. The briefing was moderated by WFUNA’s Peace and Security Officer, Mr. Pablo Angulo.
The Baltic American Chamber of Commerce was represented in the roundtable discussion by our member and UN Correspondent Ms. Ann Charles from Baltic Review, and by BACC intern Laura Kalam from Estonia. The dialogue covered the Security Council’s program of work for the month as well as questions from representatives of civil society organizations.
BACC attended the event to get an insight into the Security Council’s work as, in June 2019, the General Assembly elected Estonia as non-permanent member of the Security Council for a two-year term spanning 2020-2021.
It was important to BACC to evaluate the possibilities of cooperation between the Baltic American Chamber of Commerce and the Permanent Mission of Estonia to the UN regarding the imminent presence of the Estonia in the Security Council.
Estonia takes up its two-year post on January 1, 2020.
