Enterprise Estonia to Open Representation in New York City
Enterprise Estonia, the agency which helps to increase the export capacity of Estonian companies, announced that they will open a representative office in New York City in the first half of 2019.
"Following workforce availability, accessing export markets is among the most crucial bottlenecks for our entrepreneurs," Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology Rene Tammist (SDE) said in a press release. "A foreign representative of Enterprise Estonia will help every entrepreneur planning on entering foreign markets."
Tanel Rebane, Director of the Trade Development Agency at Enterprise Estonia, previously pointed out, that “Unlike our agency in Silicon Valley, which mainly focuses on the field of technology, many businesses from more traditional industries in Estonia, as well as from the food, timber and defence industries, have expressed their interest in exporting to the US East Coast.”
According to Mr. Rebane, Boston was likewise weighed as a possible location for the next planned representation, but New York had more sectors represented in which Estonia is strong. Mr. Rebane also emphasized that Estonia has six honorary consuls on the US East Coast and they are always happy to help Estonian companies with their network and knowledge.
The Estonian Consul General in New York Mrs. Kairi Kunka is an Honorary Director of the Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC). BACC will continue to partner the Baltic States representatives allowing Baltic business to strive in the US.
