World Trade Week NYC Kick-off Event
Today, May 9th, 2024, the annual World Trade Week NYC (WTW NYC) Kick-off Event at the Baruch College in New York City took place. World Trade Week, which occurs annually during the third full week of May, was established in 1935 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and has been recognized annually since 1948 by presidential proclamation.
The event honored US Department Of Commerce Export Achievement awardees Okonta Solutions, Inc., and Re-Nuble, Inc. The Presenting Sponsor Global Trade Award was delivered to Gemco. The WTW NYC Small Business Global Trade Award went to Tara Kitchen, of Uncaged Innovations. Emili Cori of Woodland Group, and Ian Hunter of Oco Global were honored with WTW NYC Rising Star Awards.
Featured speakers included Arun Venkataraman, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, Global Markets; and Peter Swartz, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of Altana AI, who talked about World Trade: New Horizons through AI.
World Trade Week NYC is an active network of more than 70 organizations in the New York metro region working together to underscore the importance of international trade, logistics and port operations to the region’s economy, and to use their collective expertise to help the region’s businesses grow through international trade.
The Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) has been partnering with WTW NYC for several years, and helps to promote the importance of international trade to the New York City metropolitan area's economy.
