SCNY'2019: Day 2 is in the books, and we’re excited for tomorrow
A Strategic Partner of SCNY’19:
The first full day of SCNY programming kicked off at Pier 36 in Manhattan. A diverse array of speakers and panels covered topics related to the Future of Mobility; Innovation, Talent, and Economic Growth; and Civic Engagement and Governance. SCNY co-founders Raj Pannu and Jerry Hultin kicked things off with an inspiring opening address about the role of cities in shaping the future. From there, attendees were treated to an enlightening discussion of self-driving cars from Lyft COO Jon McNeill.
After lunch, DJ Spooky brought down the house with his unique musical compositions exploring the connections between cities and remote places. Later on, Jeffery Sachs discussed the importance of New York City during an afternoon plenary session, commenting “Throughout history...New York City has looked ahead and it’s become the capital city of the world’s economy.”
The day wrapped up with the IDC presenting the Smart Cities North America Awards. Congratulations to this year's winners!
On deck for tomorrow…
Join us tomorrow as we explore three more tracks: Infrastructure for the Modern Day; Sustainable, Circular, and Clean Energy Economies; and Transformative Technologies. We’ve got another great lineup of speakers, including the mayors of several major American cities. Building on the energy of today’s discussions, tomorrow will focus on practical next steps, so that attendees gain the knowledge and insights they need to help make an impact in their home cities.
Thanks again for attending, and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
