Lithuanian Embassy Hosts Holocaust Survivor and Violinist Dana Pomerants-Murkevich, And Screening Of Biographical Documentary
On Tuesday evening, December 3rd, 2019 the Lithuanian Embassy in Washington, D.C. hosted a screening of a documentary about Dana Pomerants-Mazurkevich, a Lithuanian Holocaust survivor. The film, Sisters, tells the story of the infant Dana, the daughter of a well-known Lithuanian-Jewish pre-war violinist, who was taken in and saved by another prominent member of Lithuania's cultural elite. Dana and her adopted family's daughter became sisters for life, and Dana became a well-known violinist in her own right, now teaching at Boston University.
Attendees were welcomed by the Lithuanian Ambassador to the United States, Rolandas Krisciunas, and Dana Pomerants-Mazurkevich and her husband attended and held a dialog with the attendees after the screening. Also in attendance was Bret Werb, music curator at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. Elliot Matz, the Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) Board member, attended this fascinating and emotional presentation.
