The Baltic American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) Met With the Rector of Vilnius University Prof. Artūras Žukauskas and Members of the Elite Club “Vilniaus Klubas” in New York

On October 2nd and 3rd, 2017 the Baltic American Chambers of Commerce (BACC) welcomed Prof. Artūras Žukauskas, the Rector of Vilnius University, Alvydas Žabolis, the Chairman of the Board at Vilnius University Endowment (VUE) and the members of the elite club “Vilniaus Klubas” in New York.  The delegation from Vilnius University came to New York with the main purpose of getting to know America’s deep-rooted endowment funding culture and to learn about fundraising experiences. VUE is the first university endowment in Lithuania, established in early April of 2016.  The aim of the VUE is to raise and manage capital with the aim of using the proceeds from investable assets to support Vilnius University activities and foster Vilnius University as a nucleus for educating the Lithuanian intellectual community.

John Kissane, one of the initial Directors of the BACC and a Partner at Watson Farley & Williams, warmly welcomed the guests from Vilnius. He introduced the Vilnius delegation to the BACC and underlined the mission of the BACC, which is to promote and grow commerce and trade between businesses in the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) and the US, and to facilitate networking and relationships among business drivers and professional organizations in the Baltic States and the US.  John Kissane emphasized the activities of the BACC such as educational seminars, roundtable discussions and conferences, access to a network of high-level business contacts and experts on both sides of the Atlantic (US and Baltic States), the possibility the BACC members to increase visibility and to promote the organization as a thought-leader and solution-provider to the US and Baltic business community. “BACC assistance to stimulate investment between the US and the Baltic States is a bright line to attract investors to VUE, and the BACC willingly will contribute in its capacity to VUE.”  Representatives of BACC Inga Klimasauskiene and John Kissane shed light on the appreciated collaboration between the Academic and business world to the guests from Vilnius University and the business people belonging to the elite club “Vilniaus Klubas”.
