H.E. Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs & Security Policy (2014-2019), and Rector, College of Europe, will discuss the consequences of the Trump administration’s approach to alliances and diplomatic relationships for the incoming administration and the future of transatlantic relations more broadly. Can the relationship be restored to its earlier, more taken-for-granted status? If so, would that be desirable? How have Europe’s foreign relations changed as a result of the Trump administration’s retreat from overseas partnerships?

This is the 2021 Otto and Fran Walter Memorial Lecture, usually delivered on Europe Day. This conversation will be moderated by Professor John Torpey, Director of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies. The event will be introduced by Robin Garrell, President of the Graduate Center, and Ms. Mogherini will be introduced by Martha Peak, Vice President, Walter Foundation.

This event is also sponsored by the Otto and Fran Walter Foundation, the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, and the Institute for European Studies of the University of California - Berkeley.
