the unique opportunity to view a documentary film Rūta in New York and meet the star of the film - the swimmer, one of the most accomplished Lithuanian athletes, the Olympic Gold Medalist Rūta Meilutytė.
A screening will follow by a Q&A session with the Lithuanian Olympic medalist Rūta Meilutytė and the director of the documentary Ronaldas Buožys.
Description
Screened in celebration of Lithuanian Independence Day, the compelling documentary Rūta follows the childhood and rise to fame of one of Lithuania’s most accomplished athletes, swimmer Rūta Meilutytė, from her first strokes in a swimming pool to winning the Olympic gold and beyond. Examining her career developments and personal life, the film tells the story of a 15-year-old girl who becomes an international star overnight, and the ways that this affects her. Directed by Rokas Darulis and Ronaldas Buožys (Lithuania, 2018).
